Health, Wealth or Wisdom: What Should We Choose?

Imagine someone gives you three choices: Health. Wealth. Wisdom. Which would you choose first?

Health

Health gives us the physical and mental ability to study, work, play, think and enjoy life. It includes sleep, food, movement, rest and healthy routines.

Wealth

Money is important. It can provide food, shelter, education, healthcare, security and opportunity. But money is a tool; it does not automatically tell us which choices are good.

Wisdom

Wisdom is the ability to use knowledge, experience and judgement well. It helps us ask what matters, what the consequences are, and whether a decision is good only for today or also for tomorrow.

So which comes first?

Health gives us the ability to act. Wisdom helps us decide how to act. Wealth gives us resources and choices. All three matter, but wisdom helps us balance the other two.

Can money buy health?

It can improve access to food, care and comfort, but it cannot guarantee perfect health or replace good daily choices.

Can money buy wisdom?

It can buy books and education, but not automatically judgement. Wisdom often develops through experience, reflection, mistakes and listening.

A family discussion

Ask everyone: “If you could receive only one today—excellent health, great wealth or great wisdom—which would you choose, and why?” There is no need to declare one person correct. The discussion itself is useful.

A better goal is balance: protect health, build wealth responsibly and continue developing wisdom.
